There's a fine line between science fiction and erotica. This story walks it nicely.
.
Terminator, Rape Machine is the futuristic fan-fiction telling of the rape of Sarah Conner from the Terminator movies. Admittedly, I'm not much of a Terminator fan and while I saw a couple of the movies, my memory pretty much stops at Arnold Schwartzenegger saying "I'll be back." That said, I do have a vague memory of Skynet wanting to kill all the humans. Okay... so background taken care of.
.
There are two areas we need to look at when critiquing this story. The first is the author's ability to craft the story and the second is the story's merits itself. So let's start with the second first.
.
To be honest, I'm not really sure what to make of this tale. In essence, I'm never terribly impressed with fan-fiction. I've only written two of them myself, and the reasons were not to "continue the story" but more along the lines of extreme humor and feeling that something was lacking. Anyone who has been to my website can read my horrific, yet incredibly funny tale stolen from JKR's Potter Universe. But despite this, fan-fiction certainly has a place in today's literature. Whether you are writing Trek fiction or stuff for WOW, using a pre-created world allows an author to move automatically into THEIR plot, knowing that you know the ins and outs of the universe already. That can be a good thing. Unfortunately in Terminator, Rape Machine, the universe is used as a scapegoat. There isn't much to explain why the author wanted to write this little tale, since it doesn't jive with "canon" and except for the perverted desire to have Sarah Conner get raped by a semi-intelligent, cyborg fucking machine, there really isn't any reason for this tale. For example, would Terminator, Rape Machine be any better or worse if instead of Skynet cyborgs, it was some other non-specified skyborg? Did it have to be Sarah Conner who was being raped? Or was this just a fantasy of the author's in which she really wanted the image of Farrah Fawcett on the ropes getting it from an over powered sentient motorized dildo? Okay... admittedly... I could go for that too. But the point I'm trying to make is that the author is better than this. No need to steal from Terminator.
.
Unfortunately for the plot, not only is the basic world concept stolen, but there isn't much tension or build up of plot. Usually a plot has an introduction, some sort of problem the protagonist must face, a climax where the protagonist succeeds or fails, and a resolution. Here we have an introduction which is short, due to our familiarity with Sarah Conner and the author's note. Then we have the problem - she's kidnapped and set up for rape. Then comes the climax: she's raped. Yay for our antagonist! And then... uh... no resolution. There was no character development, no concept of where this fits in with the regular Terminator Story, and now we're lost.
.
Which brings us to my second point, which is the writing itself. And it isn't bad, which is why this story gets a seven when the plot is clearly "I want to imagine Sarah Conner getting raped by a terminator robot". The author clearly has the technical capability to write well. Action, dialog, and description are nicely balanced. Grammar wasn't bad, and there was a nice combination of simple and complex sentences to add depth and complexity to the overall style.
.
In summary, this story might make Terminator fans giddy around the edges, unless they're canon geeks, in which case, they'll hate it. For a gentle tingle, it will get you aroused, but don't expect to go anywhere with it. That said, I hope that Shygirl doesn't disappear. I want something original from her, something creative - because with the writing ability down, all that we need now is something tangible to write about. And I want to hear her say...
.
"I'll be back!"
