Again highly competent but not enough to make me care about the people. I don't know enough about them. (7/10)

- It's nice to be called highly competent, of course (thanx) but the comment does bother me a little: I do usually try pretty hard to set things up and get into the minds of those involved, either directly or by putting scene-setting non-erotic parts first. I'd like to know what you think is missing.

Very nice, though I'm in agreement with boccaccio2000g and ladys_maid. (8/10)

I think 8 is about right as well. Nice mood setting, and some good dialogue. But the first few pages of the story are marred by a number of over-long paragraphs. Overall a very nice job, though. (8/10)

I looked through the earlier reviews before I read this story and the author's arrogance in his review of his own work had me ready to pan it (there's a lesson to be learned there!). However, I have to agree that it is actually a well written tale, it does seem realistic and it moves along nicely. But a 10? I don't think so. It is undoubtedly superior to many of the stories posted here that receive such high ratings (how many of those were reviewed by their own authors?), but I found the conversational style a little irksome, as well as the use of some rather silly colloquial expressions (e.g. "bored shitless" and "... or whatever"). All the same, it is a very good story that deserves a high rating - just not quite the top one. (8/10)

- Like I said, arrogance wasn't the idea: I'm not claiming it's perfect - just trying to get more people to read it (and as you imply, I've my suspicions about the ratings of some stories! it's not as if there's any reward for it). Anyway, a genuine and reasoned eight that you can learn from means a lot more than any number of fake tens. Thanks.

Definitely agree with Curtis: he's hit the nail on the head by pointing to the emotions and reactions as giving the story its effect. I enjoyed the author's previous effort and gave it a ten, and overall this one is maybe even more effective (the only bit that didn't quite gel for me was the 'privates on parade' bit - dropped the tension and nastiness for a moment. Or was that intentional?). A minor hint perhaps: the UK and US English usages and spelling seem a bit mixed up together. Go for one or the other. And keep up the good work. (10/10)

Reviewing your own work, eh? That's a challenge, and I'm going to take you up on it. This is one of the most realistic stories on this site, especially in terms of the emotions and reactions of the characters involved. The not-so-humble author has left himself an opening for a continuation, but this story is satisfying in and of itself. I read through three-and-a half days of postings tonight and this story was the best of the bunch. Congratulations, and I hope you post some more. Curtis (10/10)

- Sorry if the initial message sounded arrogant - it was at least as much intended to get other people to read it, rather than just blowing my own trumpet (I've not posted much material yet and I'm not one of the well-known authors).
Anyway, thanks a lot for the encouragement - all feedback is welcome, all the more so when it's positive. There's plenty more in the pipeline. JM

See if this encourages more people to read it, since I can apparently add a rating for myself. At least I'm up front about it... Not that I'm necessarily claiming it's the best story you'll ever read, but IMHO there's a lot of far poorer stuff here gets nines and tens. JM (10/10)
