This is very nicely written; but since we join the story "in media res" the characters lack background, context, and, to some extent, physical descriptions. And that takes a bit of the immediacy out of the story for me. But clearly Fox is a talented author; I suspect that the full story probably supplies much of the descriptions missing in this excerpt. With that background the story would easily be worth a '9' -- and perhaps more. (8/10)

And not only “could” as I gather it is published. Superbly well written and real joy to read. Will be looking for more for sure (10/10)

Extremely well written which is a rarity in this site. No unspelled words, good grammer and well constructed sentences. What is this world coming to? (8/10)

- Thanks for the vote of confidence. There are a number of well written stories on this site. I agree, grammer and speling are often a problem (heh heh).
A good question: what IS this world coming too?

*purrrrr!* I love the Cassandra character and how surprisingly well she developed in my mind while reading so little of her. I think I'll have to wait for the blood to return to my brain before I type more. *fan self* (8/10)

This is a nicely descriptive story and the atmosphere is charged. However, it is a chapter taken from a larger work, so the background and context are not very clear from the beginning and the characters are a little empty. The actual scene itself is rather reminiscent of many films where the hero/heroine is tied up and sexually threatened by their captor. In summary, it is well written without being especially innovative. (7/10)

- Very perceptive comments. The bondage is based on a scene from a movie, as you surmised. It is not intended to be innovative, but titillative. The larger question I have is, having read the chapter as an excerpt, would it pique your interest sufficiently that you would consider buying the book?
I would like to discuss this further with you, if you are willing. If you wish to do so, please write me at writerfox@fastmail.ca By the way, the intent was to craft a well-written piece, as opposed to a creative piece. I am on a continuous quest to improve my skills and nurture my craft.
