Although I read this awhile ago now that I'm registered it's my pleasure to return to give it high marks for keeping one moving through it chapter by chapter until finished, then wanting more. It's hard to find torture lit that gets right to the point and hammers it in with insistance, even elegance, but without too much bla-bla. Too bad the author(s) have moved on. (10/10)

*sigh* True ... I haven't written anything worth sharing in ages. :)
But thank you for taking the time to return to review this. I truly appreciate it.

I've come to learn Kirsten as being Smart. At least, smart enough to sidestep the cliché's that are lurking behind every corner.
She doesn't do so by coming-up with heavy-handed plots or using technical mumbo-jumbo that requires a couple of dictionaries and at least one encyclopedia.
No sir, she does so by keeping things simple and outlined, scoring with a narrative that almost feels distant, while at the same time being intimate and revealing.
"Witchseekers" is another of those where Kirsten confronts us with the cold facts from up close, without giving the reader the feel of being a voyeur. I didn't. I felt more like a researcher who just got a dossier from the state department. Nothing but the facts, written in such a way that the accounts read like the results of a survey, embellished with dialogue.
Very well done!

One of the better written pieces. Excellent descriptions and grammar make it a more compelling story than many. (9/10)

Evil. I hope there will be some more chapters!
Some scenes resemble in MOST POSITIVE WAYS descriptions from Your story "The Witch". So, what else can I do than giving a "10" for this work, too? (10/10)

Excellent detail of the tortures and eventual burning at the stake. I always enjoy Kirsten's stories. Hopefully, if someone gets around to producing a major movie about the witchhunts, they'll ask Ms Smart to write the screenplay. (9/10)

WOW what a thrill ride! I can hardly wait for more from Kirsten Smart...Every new chapter is just as well written as the predecessors.
Thank You (10/10)

Things I found particularly compelling about this story (other than the obvious quality of the writing):
- level of detail makes the action vivid and real
- the torturer leaving the victim in a painful situation for a period of time; effective, but rarely written
- meaningful conversation between the two about what is happening (as opposed to: WHACK! "ARRRGHH!") - it's especially involving when the torturer describes in detail what is happening or going to happen, and when the victim responds in at least some detail to the specific torture
- character development

According to his step son, Rabbit 1 died on Saturday. Why there has been no announcement is strange to put it mildly. (9/10)

yikes...this story is so fantastically well written, that although i cringe at each horrible description, i find myself intrigued by the whole process..ahh nice turn of events in the last chapter...very well done..

Overall good story except for the most recent chapter. It's practically copied from Aliquis' Punishment published several months ago... (6/10)

Thanks for the feedback ... I wrote this in 2004. Aliquis emailed me and asked if he could use my story as inspiration, I didn't realise he was intending to use it verbatim in some passages.
I think if you take the time to read the rest of his work, and then the rest of mine, you'll have to accept that the writing is mine and not his.
I can't do much about him using my work but I would prefer that you do not imply that I have copied him!
best wishes

Oh dear God!
What a mess!
I have the written and explicit permission of Kirsten to use any part of her works. But this is alseo written in the beginning of my story. Read carefully.
I'm the thief who has to be punished. :)

A wonderful story, well-written and full of dark evil. You say you have more? Bring them on, Miss! We will enjoy them, each and all.
It continues unabated, yet the occasional modern slang slaps us in the face with a "what if?" thought. Fine writing! (10/10)

The best vivid scenes from burning the witch frightning slowly (10/10)

You just have to acknowledge the brilliance of the writing. Kirsten shows a deep understanding of the physical and psychological aspects of the tortures combined with a wonderful descriptive style that fires the blood. Great reading. (9/10)

An extraordinary story. The writer has an elegant, though evil, touch. (10/10)

Kirsten, it's good to see this here where it will get more widespread attention. Brings back many fond memories.
Edit - rating raised to 10 with the second chapter! (10/10)

Exceptional among the stories posted in the library. The graphic exposition of torture on the various devices is well done. I know the branding and burning are accurate punishment for witches. For entertainment I prefer lest phyically devestating torture: more sexual humiliation and degradation. (9/10)

Thanks for the kind words, you flatter me.
I understand the popularity of sexual humiliation and sexually oriented tortures, I guess though this library is full of such stories, so I'm trying to fill a gap of sorts. ;)

i enjoyed the concept of the story i could have done without the "witch" theme (7/10)

Thanks for the review ... unfortunately the 'witch' theme was the whole reason for writing it, as it was the focus of the group I had joined! :)
