Apparently one naive reader is convinced penetration of some sort is the sole requirement to meet the test of 'sex story.' Part Two is dripping with sex. If the 'two backed beast' is a must, stick with The Bard. I will unbutton my blouse a little more and step closer to the sybarite, Mr. Lewis. He'll appreciate seeing the vivid welt marks. Steady the helm, Mr. Lewis. (10/10)

Intriguing. That's the least I can say of "Modus Operandi". In a Se7en-ish (the movie) way. At least what the mood of the story is concerned, thanks to the fragmented flash-backs of the scenes of the crimes.
Less sex than in previous J Lewis stories, but that's inherent to the writing. When a story has more substance, it is quite 'normal' that there's less humping and puffing. Life doesn't restrict itself to boudoirs with king-sized beds. There's stuff to be done in-between family planning. Or the extensive practice sessions that should lead to the former.
What at first distracted me the most, though, was our beloved Liutenant Lewis. I couldn't help imagining, being a fan of the British "Inspector Morse" series (who's sidekick was Sgt. lewis --the latter getting his own spin-off series after Morse (played by the great late John Thaw) died and Lewis got promoted-- Morse's secondant as the mild-mannered, recently promoted Lieutenant sniffing around "Modus Operandi".
The above, and a few silly mistakes, like a Sheik popping up where things should be chique, had me scratching my head a few times. The latter could also be because I changed shampoo recently.
After a re-read, I came to the conclusion that, where the story stretches the imagination, it is usually a lack in imagination on the part of the reader that gives forth a scratching head movement, so, in my case, the scratching is defenitely shampoo related.
Because the story fits. And the characters fit in the story. However strange the behavior of some of those characters may be, since it all falls under the denomination of 'human behavior', hey, who are we to argue about what is and what isn't considered 'normal' or 'weird', or whatever?
I also have to agree with the Dean, about going overboard. But I'm used to J Lewis' style by now. Besides, the water is inviting, so I'll gladly indulge in a spot of deep-sea diving. Because J Lewis' stories are never shallow and his waters always filled with exotic fish...

You managed to achieve an interesting mood with the way you delivered this tale. Unfortunately, you went a bit overboard. Too often, you began paragraphs with "standing", "recalling", "remembering", etc. and made the tale into a sing-song adventure (Replace those items with "he remembered", etc.). This resulted in a bit of boredom on my part. Frankly, I like the concept and the dreamlike feel. Tone it back a bit, get rid of some of the compound (sometimes run-on) sentences and I think you have a winner.
On a side note: Ignore the comment of the reviewer who called this a "sex site". The site is called "BDSM Library" not "Sex Library". Asinine comments like that, offering no real criticism are not worth considering. (7/10)

There's no sex in part 2. Seriously. On a website that hosts SEX STORIES. I think you need to rethink your style... (6/10)
