I liked the content, but not how it was handled. Too much psychological mumbo-jumbo which, in the end, doesn't add-up.
The intro (once passed the loosely fitted together aspects of our beloved teacher) had me rubbing my hands together, going "oh boy, oh boy"... until Faye switched perspectives and starts describing how Madison sees through Julia's psyche, forgetting that we're dealing with a fourteen year old.
I know there's youngsters out there with a rather devious mind, but the mannerisms and musings which Madison displays, are too cold and calculated for a kid her age.
I mean that, what she does isn't far-fetched; it's the way her mind is described that doesn't feel right. Not with me anyway...
The writing is okay, if not adequate. Bar a few paragraphs which come across as what Flander's Fields must have looked like after the first world war: a wasteland littered with debris and bomb-craters. Meaning that some parts could have used more work on them.
Overall, a nice effort, no-matter where Faye got her mustard.
