I liked this story. It was well written and original. It deserves a good rating. The story was more of a cameo than a full length story, but would lend itself to expansion even as far as novel length. (8/10)

What I don't understand is why the crew members were named after numbers. I mean the original crew had names, right? And they were supposed to have children, which they would have named, even if the embryos were implanted. So what mother in her right mind would name her kid 42, or 97? Wouldn't there always be a tradition of "naming" the kids, even if it was just going down a stupid list? Okay, the next child is female and will be named Xantha because X is next. Like I said, weird. * I am now officially depressed about the future. If we, as a civilization, are smart enough to build intergalactic space cruisers, but not smart enough to send Sesame Street videos along with some BASIC educational programs in order to "socialize" children born on the spaceship, I'm just going to fricken commit suicide right now. I mean HELL we managed to send BDSM videos! Considering the state of current information computer technology, 97 should have had access to practically everything ever written or videotaped. It just makes no sense. * Overarching plot black holes aside, I LOVED this story. The whole thawed but still spread-eagled and fucked concept was beautifully done, though I do agree with seercat and Dryhill that a little more emotional tension would have been great. Especially when viewed in contrast with 97's apparent apathy or autism. (Not sure which he was!) Anyway, I thought that the whole plot progression of Ida's submission was rather well done, believable, and erotic. The climax of the story (where Ida discovers she's been off the sex drug for over a month) is excellently done and the tension build was sufficient to not only keep me excited but send ME over the edge. Into space. * Part of me was kind of disappointed that Ida didn't have any children, or made 97 into someone a bit more human, perhaps given him a name. It would have added that emotional content the other reviewers (and myself) have complained about. But on the flip side, I also like the idea of Ida and 97 thawing two more people and turning them into sex slaves who also happen to run the ship. Uh... how will they do it without more sex drug? * All in all, I really enjoyed this one. I'll have to check out some more of Abe's work and see if there are more with this sort of short fun, but fulfilling impact! * Yours Faithfully, Michael Alexander (www.michaelalexanderstories.com) (8/10)

I read several similar stories about 40 years ago in the general SF genre (if I remember correctly one was in "New Writings in SF"). Of course as they were more SF than Erotic there was far less graphic sexual detail and no Master/slave relationship. I agree with "seercat" about needing more internal conflict, otherwise a well told story. Thank you for an enjoyable read. (7/10)

Well written. Consistent internal logic. Could use a little more eroticism, more fleshing out of the internal conflict felt by the female "heroine." Overall, a good read. (8/10)
